2024 Ministry Theme: “Look Up”
Luke 21:28 “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Rooted for the Long Haul
My thought for this bulletin is based on a prayerful concern for the body of Christ, me included. I often quote Jesus from Luke 18:8 where He says, “When the Son of Man comes again will He find faith on the earth?” It’s a legitimate concern obviously or the Lord wouldn’t have said it. As we grow closer and closer to His return, I too have great concern. The core doctrines of Holy Scripture are being debated today by scholars as if they were open for debate, which they are not. Subjects like the sanctity of human life, sexual purity, marriage, gender, even the way to heaven is now being questioned and debated by so called theologians. God help us, with all this division in the body of Christ and disagreement about plain and profound truth what signal and what message is being sent to the average church going, Jesus believing Christian? 2 Thessalonians 2 warns of a coming apostasy where there will be a massive turning away from the faith. Are we too vulnerable? What if the leaders we trust in and the pastors we follow begin to deviate from the core truths of God’s word? Would we follow them and began a journey back to the broad road that leads to destruction? There is room for disagreement in the kingdom of God. There are interesting and debatable elements of scripture, subjects that we can agree to disagree on and remain in fellowship. But the core doctrines of scriptures are not. Let us immerse ourselves in the truth, commit ourselves to reading, mediating and witnessing God’s inerrant word for He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Blessings,
PK
