A Word From PK

We are Gomer 

 

This past week, I was marveling at the mercy of God and how He makes it available every morning. I reflected on how often I pray for it, for myself and others.  And as I did, I remembered the story found in Hosea and how God instructed the prophet to marry, be faithful to and raise a family with a woman named Gomer who had less than a stellar reputation. I rehearsed the story as she was on the auction block, not once but twice. As I pictured the scene in my heart, I realized again that “I am Gomer”, and “I am Barabbas too”. How often do we take for granted the abundant mercy the Lord provides fresh for us every day? I for one am guilty, but not today. “Thank You Lord, for your abundant mercy and amazing grace that has saved a wretch like me!” Let us boldly approach the throne of God today as sons and daughters, not slaves, but at the same time, remember how we got here.
