Boredom is a Catalyst

I’ve said before that the modern day, hectic, and frenzy pace of life is a big

problem for the last day’s family, those trying to navigate a Christian life in a

secular world. The schedules, deadlines, pressures and endless sources of

entrainment have all but eliminated “boredom” from our lives. When was the

last time a child with a device in his or her hand complained “I’m bored”?

Without boredom where does the stimulus to be creative and adventurous

come from? Where does the motivation for change and progress originate? If

we have no need for imagination, where will the next world changer come

from? Fantasy replaces fortitude and grit. Screens replace social interaction

and comfort replaces character forged in the fire. The result is a selfish and

secular culture conditioned for socialism and primed for deception. Radical

you say, not when you read the Bible. 2 Timothy 3 describes the condition of

the last days’ culture in the church and it’s scary. Let’s be different and

become a refuge and encouragement for those who want to be different too.
